Mtwara is located on the south-eastern coast of Tanzania, that leads to the the border with Mozambique. A wonderful combination of a relaxed atmosphere, the sheltered harbour and its close proximity to the Mnazi Bay-Rovuma Estuary Marine Park where visitors experience the most isolated dive sites on the coast, makes this a truly top destination. There are some fine beaches to the north around the town of Shangani which also boasts St Paul's Church, which houses remarkable murals of biblical scenes painted by German priests.
Mafia Island is an island that lies off the coast of East Africa that has history dating back to the 8th century. The island was at the heart of the ancient trade route between the people of the Far East and East Africa. It is truly perfect for relaxing island getaway as well as those seeking adventure diving or game fishing. The island is covered with tropical vegetation which is epitomised by large palm groves, impressive baobab trees and lines of mango and cashew trees. Mafia Island offers breathtaking white beaches and some of the most beautiful coral reefs on East African coast which are home to some four hundred species of fish and five species of turtle.
Kilwa Kisiwani is a community on an island off the coast of East Africa, in present day Tanzania. The island is of great historical interest and has magnificent scenic beauty. The coastline is scattered with remarkable ruins most of which date from the tenth century or above. Kilwa is famed for having the finest and most intact collection of Islamic architecture south of the Sahara, examples include the Great Mosque and the Mkutini Palace. Following the commencement of serious archeological investigation in the 1950s, Kilwa Kisiwani was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1981.
Zanzibar is an archipelago off the coast of Tanzania which consists of Zanzibar Island (Unguja), Pemba Island, and many smaller islands. Zanzibar has an extensive history dating back to as early as 1st century AD (Greek and Roman Ships.)
There is a wonderful blend of cultures which is very prominent in Stone Town which is the old quarter of the capital, Zanzibar City. Stone Town was recently declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the most unique cities in the world in which Moorish, Middle Eastern, Indian, and African traditions and architectures mix effortlessly. It is possible to spend days winding through Stone Town's labyrinthine alleys.
Zanzibar is famous not only for its spice production but also for its beaches and varied marine life and wildlife. World famous for diving and snorkeling these seas offer unspoiled coral reefs with a variety of marine life including whales, dolphins, dugongs and big game fish. The archipelago is surrounded by opulent white sanded beaches which are lapped by the turquoise water of the Indian Ocean.

Dar es Salaam is situated on a massive natural harbour on the Eastern Indian Ocean coast of Africa. Dar es Salaam is the largest city in Tanzania with 2.8 million people. Dar is Tanzania's most important city for both business and government. The city contains high concentrations of trade and other services and manufacturing compared to other parts of Tanzania, which has about 80 percent of its population in rural areas.
A variety of museums, including the National Museum, the Village Museum and the Botanical Garden are all very close by. Within an hour's drive north is Bagamoyo, which is home to the Kaole ruins. There are beaches on the Msasani peninsula north of Dar es Salaam and in Kigamboni to the south.
